Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day is celebrated every day after tax day. This day is based on the assumption that most folks stayed up last doing their taxes the night before and only
have the energy to wear PJs the next day.
A Few Pajama Facts...
- The word pajama comes from the Indian word Piejamah, which were loose pants tied at the waist
- In the US, people wore long nightshirts until the late nineteenth century into the early twentieth century
- In the 1920s, men began to wear loose-fitting trousers with button-up collarless tops
- In the 1020s also women began wearing ankle-length pants with hip-length tops made of satin and silk
- In the 1940s, women began to wear shortie pajamas
- In the 1960s, baby doll pajamas became popular
